Founding Partner Ernest P. DeSimone has been a trial lawyer for thirty-five years and concentrates his practice on substantial eminent domain cases. After graduating from Suffolk University Law School with honors, Mr. DeSimone became an Assistant Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Over twelve years as an Assistant and Special Assistant Attorney General, Mr. DeSimone represented state departments, officers and commissions in litigation at both the trial and appellate levels. Currently, Mr. DeSimone's practice primarily involves representation of landowners whose property is taken by eminent domain.
Mr. DeSimone has appeared on behalf of both public and private clients in some of the largest eminent domain cases in Massachusetts. In addition to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, he has also acted as Special Counsel to many cities and towns in eminent domain litigation.
Mr. DeSimone has been a guest lecturer on eminent domain for Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc., The Society of Real Estate Appraisers and various educational institutions including Northeastern University and Stonehill College. He has been selected by his peers to be included in the Boston Globe publication “Boston’s Best Lawyers” in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
Mr. DeSimone is currently licensed to practice before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. He has also been specially admitted to litigate cases in the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire and the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island.
